Posted by: huepod

8: A Frat Party (Carson and Momo)

M: Hey, Momo, thanks again for coming to this party with me tonight. I really, REALLY wanna get into this frat, and bringing a pretty girl to their party definitely scores me some points.

W: Ha ha, thanks for inviting me. I don’t really know what a frat is, though. We don’t have them in Japan. I think maybe they’re American?

M: Oh, true… So, first of all, “frat” is short for “fraternity.” The girl version of a fraternity is a “sorority.” They’re social groups on campus.

W: Like clubs?

M: Mm… More like, SUPER clubs. Like, for me, I have to rush first, which means attending different events held by different frats. And then the frats that like me all give me a bid, and I have to decide which one I wanna join. After that, I have to pledge—which is like doing certain things to show that I deserve to be in the frat.

W: That sounds like an awful lot of work just to join a club…

M: I told you! A SUPER club!!
